Easter Weekend!

We had a relaxing and busy Easter weekend!  Good Friday we spent the day as a family.  We took our time in the morning before going out.  We wanted to eat lunch at Saucers Cafe but it was closed. Boo!
So instead we ate at Nuburger.  It was delicious and hit the spot.  The girls ate so well, perfect choice.

After lunch we headed to the Forks to check out the shops.  We hadn't been there in so long.  The girls loved the Kite and Kaboodle toy store and to be honest so did I.  Claire and Abby each got a little toy for their Calico Critter house.

Saturday we had my family over for Easter dinner.  In the morning we did a major grocery shop because they were all closed Friday and Sunday.  Lots of stuff to get, diapers oh man I was down to nothing with Abby.  We needed so much food too.  The girls and I dyed and decorated eggs together. I bought a cheap little kit at Superstore.

I was in charge of making dessert for dinner.  I wanted to make something that Abby could eat too.  So I automatically thought of the chocolate quinoa cupcakes.  Oh yeah so gooood!

We made a pork roast, mashed potatoes, asparagus, peas/corn and fresh buns.  Not a traditional Easter dinner but so tasty non the less.

It was great to see my grandma, sister and Derrick because we haven't seen them in a little while.

Sunday morning Kyle and I woke up early and hid Easter eggs with treats around the house.  Kyle wrote each of the girls a sweet little note from the 'Easter Bunny' explaining which colour eggs to hunt for.  I bought them each an Easter book.  One of my favourites is Here Comes Easter Cat.  It is hilarious!  I bought Peppa Pig Easter Egg Hunt.  I got them stickers and hair ties.

Sunday we spent the rest of the morning making meatballs for Kyle's parents Easter dinner.  I baked banana bread because I had an insane amount of bananas for some reason.  I also made Abby a dozen of her special gluten free muffins.  She eats them up!!  I packed up the girls suitcases because they were leaving with Kyle's parents Monday morning for Clear Lake to stay at Elkhorn Resort for two nights.  I was invited to go but I had my last University class Tuesday night.  Plus the tile guy was coming Monday morning to lay the tile in the basement and I needed to let him in.

We drove out to Stonewall for lunch and put Abby down for her nap there.  She didn't sleep at all because she must have fallen asleep for a little bit in the car on the way out and it threw her nap off.  She had so much fun playing with all of her cousins.  Kyle's mom did a little egg hunt in the basement.  After dinner we celebrated Kyle's dad's 60th birthday.  Susie made a yummy carrot cake and it was different because it was in a bunt pan and the cream cheese was swirled through.  She said it was from Sally's Baking Addiction.

Kyle and his brother got his dad a really wonderful gift,  a trip to Toronto in August to watch a Bomber game against the Toronto Argonauts and then a Bluejays game.  Kyle was finding it hard to get his dad something, because he has everything.  His dad was really surprised with his gift and loved it.  Kyle's mom got him a great gift too, an Alaskan Curise in May.  Ray had told Linda that going to Alaska was always on his bucket list.

It was a fun and relaxing Easter weekend!
