Our Weekend!

This weekend was jam packed with fun activities.  Friday night we headed over to the park behind us our neighbourhood association organized a movie night in the park.  They had a blow up screen and were showing Despicable Me.  It started later than they thought because it was lighter out.  We brought our own popcorn and bug spray.  Once the sun went down the mosquitos were a little annoying but I sprayed us good.  The girls were listening to the movie so well.  I took Abby back earlier to get her ready for bed and Claire stayed until the end with Kyle.  Claire is still talking about the movie, she's was so excited.  Since seeing the Minon movie last weekend she enjoyed seeing Minons in Despicable Me.

Saturday Claire and I left Abby and Kyle at home to go shopping.  We needed to go to Polo Park to buy gifts for Kyle, his birthday is coming up next Sunday on Sept 6th.  He is turning 33!! While we were at Polo Park we stopped in at the Lego Store, oh man so fun.  Claire loved building with the lego. We bought some special gifts for Kyle and headed home.  While we were gone Kyle set up Claire's soccer net and trampoline that she got as gifts last year for her birthday and Christmas.  Claire right away went to jump on the trampoline.  When you jump on the trampoline you can hook up a balloon it will blow it up.  How fun is that?!?!  Kyle also asked Claire if she would like to do a camp out Saturday night, of course she said YES!!  So Kyle set up our tent in the backyard and blew up the air mattress.

Lego galore!

How cool is this?!?!

When the girls went for a nap and quiet time I headed out to get my hair cut.  It was nice to relax and get my hair did.  I also picked up some products while I was there, my favourite Moroccan Oil.  I loved the dry shampoo Erica gave me but I ran out and needed some more.  I bought one bottle of dry shampoo, a travel size bottle of hairspray and a bottle of their blow dry spray.

Love this stuff!

Before dinner I took a quick trip to Crampton's Farmers Market on the corner of Bishop and Waverley.  I love all the fresh veggies, fruits and baked goods.  We were having Kyle's dad and brother over for dinner before the Bomber game.  I picked up some fresh Manitoba corn, hamburger buns and a fresh baked strawberry rhubarb pie.  We made burgers, bacon, asian salad and corn on the cob.  The game started at 5 pm so we all ate early and the three of them rode their bikes to the game.  After the game I got the girls ready for bed and we put Abby to bed and then took Claire outside for a bon fire.  We made delicious s'mores.  Claire was pretty tired so Kyle went in the tent with her by 9:30 pm.  I was expecting them to come in sometime in the middle of the night but they stayed out there the whole time.    Claire slept really well and was so excited to tell me all about it Sunday morning.

Got the goods!

Swimmers in the bathtub

I had promised to make Claire banana chocolate chip pancakes in the morning after her camp out.  I woke up before 6 because I couldn't sleep and made myself a pot of coffee and took my time drinking my coffee while making the pancakes.  Abby slept longer so it was nice to have the kitchen nice and quiet that early in the morning.  I also made a new recipe for pancakes my sister sent me on Pinterest, 3-Ingredient Pancakes.  They just have two eggs, a mashed banana, and cinnamon.  I added vanilla and chocolate chips.  Abby devoured them, much better then the time I made her coconut flour pancakes.

After breakfast we made the decision to organize and clean out the basement and garage.  I took a quick trip to Walmart to buy lots of Rubbermaid bins in different sizes to but all our stuff in.  We got rid of a lot of stuff we don't use anymore for Diabetes pick up.  We also put Kyle's tools and other seasonal stuff in the shed in a big bin, lifejackets, gardening stuff and sports equipment.  We decided to organize and store all the baby stuff under the stairs incase we decide to have another baby one day, not sure on that one yet.  The reason we wanted to get the basement sorted out because we want to start finishing the basement starting in a couple months.  We hope to have it all complete by this winter to enjoy the extra space for the girls to play and for us to entertain.  Kyle is going to sub contract out for each job.  As much as we appreciated our families help last time we finished our basement at the old house we don't want to bother people to do that again.  I can't wait for the extra space and to have it all finished!

Before

After

We finished off the weekend by having my sister and parents over for dinner.  We BBQ ed some pork chops, made baby potato with fresh dill, carrots, fried mushrooms and coleslaw.  We also had that strawberry rhubarb pie with vanilla ice cream.  Oh so delicious!! It was the perfect dinner and a perfect way to end the weekend.

Last Week

Monday morning Kyle and I both took turns going for a run before starting our day.  We've been making delicious smoothies for breakfast in the mornings.  Frozen mango, banana, kale, spinach, chia seeds, orange juice and a peach, sooo good!  Claire and Abby love them too.

I think we know what to get her for Christmas
I took both girls to Scholar's Choice near Polo Park to go return something for my classroom and get something else instead.  They love going there because they have toys set up to play with and try out.  Abby loved the trained set and Claire played with this Calico Critters House with little animals.

On our way home we stopped at my school for a quick visit.  The girls met my principal and secretary, they were excited to have little visitors.  I dropped somethings off in my classroom and let the girls play with some materials.  I got approval from the girls that my room was ready for my students.

After nap and quiet time we took a walk to the park to play.  It was a gorgeous day, a little cooler than normal but perfect park weather.  I am really happy with how brave Claire is getting at the park now.  She will go across the rope bridge on her own and as now tried the spinners with a little help.  Abby on the other hand is fearless and goes down the slide by herself and wants to do everything Claire does.  Claire at Abby's age was very cautious and still is with many things.

After dinner we checked out a different park in our neighbour hood in Bridgewater Lakes.  It is a park we had never been too before and had heard about it from our neighbours.  It had a fun play house, swings and lots of climbers but the best part there is lots of the colour rubber tire on the ground so it's great if there are falls.  The girls had a blast!

Tuesday we met my friend Kat and her boys at the Nature Playground in Assiniboine Park for a play date.  It was suppose to be cool like 8 degrees but it turned out to be very warm.  I of course over dressed myself and the girls.  We still had a great time.  It's a beautiful park and lots of variety but I'm not a fan of the water/sand area, the girls get so messy, yuck!  I know I sound like a Debbie Downer but I would like it if they did the sand and water separate and then it wouldn't be as messy.  They loved it and I was smart and brought a change of clothes!

Claire climbing up the rock wall on her own

Wednesday we met another friend at a splash pad in Lindenwoods near our house.  It was cooler as well with the breeze but that didn't stop them from having a great time in the water.  They loved filling up their buckets with water and dumping them out.  Claire started collecting rocks too.  My friend Crystal brought her daughter Alex who is only 6 months old.  Abby and Claire loved bringing her toys and talking to her.

Playing Hair Dressser together after nap and quiet time
Thursday we met my friend Julie and her two girls at a splash pad in River Heights not too far from my school on Grosvenor.  It was a bit warmer  than the day before and the girls still went in the water.  They also just built a new playground right beside the splash pad and they all went climbing and swinging on their own.  I loved it as well because it had the rubber tire on the ground.

Claire fell asleep in her 'fort' during quiet time

Friday Kyle had the day off work so he stayed home.  He offered to stay home with the girls in the morning so I could go into work to get somethings ready in the my classroom.  I was able to get lots done and chatted with some of the teachers I had met in June and some new ones I had never met before.  I'm just loving my classroom, big windows, freshly painted walls, tons of storage space and a have my very own sink in the classroom. Score for art projects!!

My Ikea made discovery table

Weekend Update!

I know I know it's been too long since I've wrote on the blog.  Life got away with me and I'm finally getting around to write a post on here.  I went back to work at the beginning of April for 3 months and have been off with the girls since the end of June.  It has been just wonderful being off this summer, the weather has been gorgeous and hot.  I am heading back to work on September 8th but I'm looking forward to stating a new position at a new school.  Can't wait!

My reading area in my classroom! Thanks Ikea!

We didn't have the best weather this weekend.  Kyle and I were hoping of going off on our own this weekend for a canoe trip but the weather didn't look pretty so we decided to stay home and hang out as a family.

Friday was a beautiful day so we took both girls to ThunderRapids adventure park.  We did some mini golfing the four of us.  Abby and Claire loved it, they got the hang of it but got tired hear the 9th hole.  Then Claire accidentally hit Abby with her putter so that was the end for Abby, she had enough.  Poor girl just wanted me to hold her after that.

We then drove to our favourite spot, Stella's on Grant for lunch.  It was soooo delicious as always.  I had the chicken burger and we were able to order the fish tacos for Abby without breading so she shared those with Kyle.  Claire wanted pasta noodles so Kyle ordered the Pad Tai and shared that with Claire as well.

After naps we took them both to the park to go on the slides and on the swings.  It has been so nice having the park right behind our house.  It's the quickest walk to it and the girls love playing there.

Swinging with Daddy

Saturday morning we chilled out at home until Kyle played football at 10:30 at Adrenaline Adventure Park.  It was really cloudy but not raining yet so I told Kyle I would take the other car and meet him there with the girls.  They were excited to watch their dad play football.  On our way home the storm just hit us, hail, downpour of rain, lightning and strong winds.  It was good we missed it when we were out on the field.  I had to pull over off the road because I couldn't see in front of me with the rain coming down so hard.  It was pretty intense but the girls were so good and just hanged tight in the back for the storm to calm down.

Claire taking selfies!

They would rather fight over the umbrella than watch the game

During Abby's nap I decided to take Claire to her first movie.  We went to see the new Minions movie at the Theatre on McGillvary.  It was an hour and a half but she sat the whole time watching it.  We got popcorn and water to snack on, she just loved the whole experience.  She can't stop talking about it and asked today if someone could come over to watch Abby during her nap so we could go see another movie together, lol!!

Loved watching her expressions!

Sunday morning we headed out to Kyle's grandmas place for breaky.  She made us a yummy spread of eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast.  The girls ate well and had a nice visit with her.  They played with the toys there and we made plans to come another time for dinner.  Claire requested great grandma make pasta because that's her favourite.

Leaving Great Grandma's House

Sunday afternoon we went out shopping with the girls.  We received a nice gift card to Homesense from our friends and we wanted to check out what they have.  We are in the process of working with an Interior Designer from Interior Illusions to design the space in our living room.  We saw a beautiful console table that would look awesome in our front hallway.  There were lots of other accessories we could get as well.  We also saw a gorgeous large mirror for our walk in closet to lean against the wall.  Can't wait to decorate our living room and get that started!!

Hanging out in the bathroom!

What a beauty!
