To celebrate Abby's big day we had two amazing parties planned for our little girl. Saturday we invited both families over for a party before dinner. I had university class all day but told my professor I needed to leave by the afternoon break to pick up balloons at party stuff and go home to decorate. Everyone came over around 4. We had both great grandma's over as well as my parents. My sister and Derrick came as well as Scott and Susie with their two kids Evan and Emily. I woke up before class on Saturday to bake Abby's chocolate quinoa cake. It was the first time I had made it for Abby and it turned out amazing and wasn't complicated at all.
Kyle was in charge of the menu for the night. He made a crockpot full of beef taco filing.
We bought soft and hard tacos and all the fixings. We wanted to make one of Abby's favourite dinners. This way we didn't need to make anything separate for Abby. It turned out great and everyone loved the food.
We sang Abby 'Happy Birthday', she was very shy and hid in my chest. She was so cute! After cake, (which everyone loved as well!) They couldn't believe it had quinao in the cake. we opened presents with Abby. She loved all her gifts! Her favourite was a homemade floor pillow from Auntie Erica and Derrick. Though Makena thinks it's for her.
Sunday morning we invited over our friends and Abby's little friends for another birthday party. We made a big breakfast buffet of some of Abby's favourite foods too. Pancakes, (Abby had her own special pancakes), hash brown patties, bacon, and fruit. I also made another chocolate quinoa cake the night before for our guests as well.
After we ate breakfast together we headed outside for some skating on the pond behind our house. The kids loved being outside. The weather couldn't have been any better.
We came back in to have cake and let Abby open her presents with all of her friends. Abby was so happy to have her friends over to celebrate. She had a long nap after everyone left.
It was a wonderful way to celebrate Abby turning two!!
